Integrating Audino with HUMAN Protocol: A Step-by-Step Guide

By Aman Singla on 12/08/2025

Introduction

In the evolving landscape of AI and machine learning, data annotation plays a pivotal role. The collaboration between Audino, an open-source audio annotation tool, and the HUMAN Protocol, a decentralized network for human intelligence tasks, has created a robust framework for scalable and efficient audio data labeling.

What is Audino?

Audino is a web-based tool designed for annotating audio data. It supports various tasks such as Voice Activity Detection (VAD), Speaker Diarization, Emotion Recognition, and more. Audino offers a collaborative environment where annotators can define and describe temporal segments in audio files, label them, and export annotations in JSON format for further analysis.

What is HUMAN Protocol?

The HUMAN Protocol is a decentralized network that connects requesters with annotators through a blockchain-based system. It ensures transparency, scalability, and instant payouts for human intelligence tasks. By integrating with platforms like Audino, HUMAN Protocol facilitates the distribution of annotation tasks to a global pool of workers, enhancing efficiency and quality in data labeling.

How to Launch and Complete an Annotation Task with Audino + HUMAN Protocol

For the Requester: Creating & Launching a Task

1. Log in to HUMAN Protocol Portal

The project owner logs into the HUMAN dashboard with their credentials.

2. Create a New Project / Job

  • Enter project details: name, description, audio dataset info, type of task (e.g., transcription, speaker diarization).

  • Upload audio link from a dataset storage location.

3. Configure Task Parameters

  • Define annotation schema: what labels or tags annotators should use.

  • Set quality control parameters: minimum accepted quality.

  • Specify the payment amount per completed annotation (in tokens or cryptocurrency supported by HUMAN Protocol).

4. Publish the Job

  • Once all details and integration are set, the job goes live.

  • It becomes available on the HUMAN Protocol platform to all qualified annotators worldwide.

5. Monitor Task Progress

  • Track submitted annotations, review quality, and accept or reject work.

  • HUMAN Protocol ensures transparent tracking of task status and payments.

For the Annotator/Worker: Enrolling and Annotating

1. Sign Up on HUMAN Protocol Platform

  • Create an account and complete KYC/identity verification if required.

2. Connect a Crypto Wallet

  • Link a compatible wallet to receive payments instantly upon task approval.

3. Browse Available Jobs

  • Filter by category, language, or reward.

  • Select Audino-linked audio annotation jobs.

4. Access the Task in Audino Interface

  • Get redirected to Audino where the tools are ready for use.

5. Perform Annotation

  • Listen to audio, mark voice activity, identify speakers, transcribe speech, detect emotions, or label rare languages depending on task type.

  • Save and edit annotations before submission.

6. Submit the Task

  • Submit work via Audino.

  • The submission syncs back to HUMAN Protocol for validation.

7. Task Validation and Payment

  • Automated quality checks review submissions.

  • Once approved, payment is sent directly to the annotator’s crypto wallet through HUMAN Protocol smart contracts.

What’s Next

Audino will soon release the first batches of jobs covering transcription, diarization, voice activity detection, and rare language detection for underrepresented dialects.

Whether you’re an annotator looking for paid work or a requester seeking high-quality audio labels at scale, now’s the time to prepare.
